Get Ready For The Outback Air Race 2022
Guest post by Tim Alexander, Outback Air Race.
The Outback Air Race is an aviation time trial through the remote Australian Outback to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia.
The Air Race is a challenging event for pilots and their passengers spanning two weeks of flying over some of Australia’s most geographically challenging and stunning landscapes. The race consists of a GPS-based navigation time-trial whereby pilots receive points for time and location accuracy during the race.
After the scheduled race for 2021 was postponed due to Covid restrictions, this year there will be about 102 competitors in 42 privately-owned light aircraft taking part in the Air Race 2022, which begins on Monday 29 August 2022 in Darwin NT, and finishes in Coffs Harbour NSW on Saturday 10 September 2022.

The three Coffs Harbour entries shows a huge level of support from the local Coffs community for this worthy cause. Each team will be paying all its own expenses and all money’s donated will go to the RFDS.
Since 1996 competitors and spectators have raised over $3.1 million, with funds from each race going towards outfitting RFDS aircraft with essential medical equipment, vital for treating sick and injured patients.
