Cirrus is celebrating 9,000 deliveries of its high-performance, piston-powered SR (single reciprocating) Series aircraft with the launch of a new 9,000th Limited Edition SR Series piston single. The company says the special-edition plane was inspired by the thousands of Cirrus owners who personify the Cirrus Life in traveling to “different destinations without constraint or boundaries.” The SR series includes the SR20, SR22, and turbocharged SR22T, all of which are equipped with either Lycoming or Continental engines. Cirrus also manufactures the Vision Jet, a single-engine Personal Jet. Cirrus aircraft owners have logged more than 15 million hours of flight time worldwide to date.

“The SR Series continues to move people, businesses, and imaginations as we reach another significant delivery milestone,” says Cirrus Aircraft CEO Zean Nielsen. “Our talented Xi Design Studio collected inspiration through the lens of our customers and the worldwide travel and freedom personal aviation offers. The 9,000th SR Series delivery means that 9,000 owners are living the Cirrus Life enabled by the bestselling high-performance piston aircraft in the industry for over two decades. The SR Series is one of the safest aircraft, as it includes the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS) and a suite of integrated safety features as standard equipment. Through our expanded aircraft ownership ecosystem, we are excited to continue introducing more people to personal aviation.”

    The Xi Design Studio

Cirrus introduced the SR Series in 1999; today, Series aircraft are certified in more than 60 countries. The sixth-generation SR Series, or G6 SR Series, was launched in 2017 and updated in 2020 and 2022, when Cirrus unveiled a revised aircraft design with reduced drag, an updated Cirrus IQ mobile app, and eight new exterior paint colors that the Cirrus Xi Design Studio team created with Sherwin Williams Aerospace.

For the 9,000th Limited Edition model, the team again partnered with Sherwin Williams to create four thematically named color designs inspired by four international designations. These include 9,000th SR Series in Lava, 9,000th SR Series in Santorini, 9,000th SR Series in Balos, and 9,000th SR Series in Magma. The plane also thematically incorporates the number 9 into exterior and interior design elements, components, and graphics.

    More Updates

The limited-edition plane also introduces newly designed Cirrus All-Weather Floor Liners engineered to take on mud, sand, water, dirt, and other elements encountered during adventure travel excursions. The liners bear a customized badge that honors 9,000 SR Series deliveries. Customers will also receive a Bose A30 Aviation Headset and a Garmin International D2 aviator watch with a custom band that matches their limited-edition aircraft’s paint.
