First Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen2 Delivery To Asia Pacific Market Set For November
Cessna parent company Textron Aviation recently announced that this November, Fuji Business Jet Co. Ltd. will become the first customer in Japan—and the entire Asia Pacific region—to receive a Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen2 light business jet. The company offers jet air transport, repair and maintenance, hangering, and other services, and operates a fully equipped Fixed Based Operator (FBO) lounge at its Mt. Fuji Shizuoka Airport headquarters. Fuji Business Jet already operates Cessna 525A Citation CJ2+ aircraft for passenger charter services, and says it plans to add a Dassault Falcon 2000LXS in the future.
A Well-Deserved Reputation
The Citation CJ4 Gen2 received Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB) type certification in 2011. CJ4 Gen2 manufacturer Textron Aviation expects the business jet’s recently updated cabin to receive JCAB interior certification yet this month. Textron also says the jet will enter operation in a region with a rapidly increasing private aviation and charter customer base. Tony Jones, Cessna vice president of Asia Pacific sales, says 4 billion people fall within a six-hour flight radius.
“Cessna Citation light jets continue to be a popular choice with Japanese-based operators,” he says. “It has a well-deserved reputation as a versatile and efficient business tool. The new Citation CJ4 Gen2’s updated cabin experience and class-leading performance allow our customers, like Fuji Business Jet, to take advantage of greater range out of airports with shorter runways across Japan.”
It's All In The Lighting
Introduced in February 2021, the CJ4 Gen2 is certified for single-pilot flight. Its ability to seat up to 10 passengers makes it Textron Aviation’s largest light jet model. The aircraft is also the first Citation jet to come equipped with CoolView lavatory skylights that provide natural lighting throughout the lavatory and aft cabin space. Enhanced ambiance lighting is located throughout the jet’s interior, including in its cupholders, floors, pockets, and sidewalls. Passengers will also find a new stair and handrail, new cabin seating options, and upgraded wireless cabin management system.
The Citation CJ4 Gen2 has a 4,010-kilometre (2,165-nautical-mile) maximum range, and what Textron Aviation says is a best-in-class Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) range of 3,567 km (1,926 nm). The plane has a 451-ktas maximum cruise speed, and can haul an up to 472-kilogram (1,040-pound) baggage load. The CJ4 Gen2 puts to use a Collins Aerospace Pro Line 21 avionics suite and dual Williams International FJ44-4A engines.
