Cirrus Aircraft Delivered 346 SR Series Pistons, Nearly 75 Vision Jets In 2020

U.S.-based piston and jet aircraft manufacturer Cirrus Aircraft has announced its aircraft delivery totals for 2020. The firm delivered 346 of its SR Series aircraft last year, making the SR the industry’s best-selling high-performance piston aircraft for 19th straight years. Cirrus says it has delivered 300 or more SR Series aircraft for seven straight years now. Deliveries of the manufacturer’s Vision Jet reached 73, making the Robert J. Collier Trophy-winning aircraft general aviation’s most-delivered jet for two straight years. The jet, which Cirrus refers to as “the world’s first single-engine Personal Jet,” has now exceeded 245 deliveries worldwide, and 450 pilots have earned their U.S. Federal Aviation Administration Vision Jet type rating.

“A World-Class Aviation Experience”

Cirrus Aircraft CEO Zean Nielsen says 2020 was an “extraordinary demonstration” of Cirrus’ ability to persevere during unprecedented challenges. “In addition to executing on our plans, we have continued to introduce new people to aviation around the world as demand grew throughout the year for our products and services,” he says. "We are committed to continue delivering a world-class aviation experience to our over 8,000 SR Series owners and more than 245 Vision Jet operators worldwide.”

The SR Series includes the SR20, SR22, and turbocharged SR22T models. They’ve accumulated 11 million-plus flight hours across more than 60 countries. The series launched in 1999 with the advent of the SR20, which also marked the introduction of the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS). In 2020, deliveries of an all-new six-generation 2020 G6 SR Series began, marking Cirrus’ most technologically advanced SR model yet. The plane comes with its own app, the Cirrus IQ-powered Cirrus Aircraft App, which enables a real-time digital connection to the plane from virtually anywhere in the world. In January, Cirrus announced an eight-unit run of a new 8000 Limited Edition SR Series model set for deliveries this year to commemorate 8,000 SR Series deliveries.

The Personal Jet

Launched in 2016, the Vision Jet features the FAA-certified Safe Return emergency Autoland system. It enables passengers to push an overhead button if needed to activate Safe Return, which assumes flight control and autonomously flies the jet to the nearest appropriate airport for safe landing.

Last year, Cirrus announced VisionAir, a turnkey ownership program providing everything needed to own, operate, and manage a Vision Jet. It also expanded services for international owners by making international financing options available via Cirrus Finance and expanded parts and upgrades availability worldwide via Cirrus Direct.
