Robinson R66 Turbine Helicopter

Based at the Torrance Municipal Airport – Zamperini Field in Torrance, California, Robinson delivered its first helicopter, the R22, in 1979 and released its 13,000th helicopter in April 2021. The company’s current lineup of helicopter models includes versions of the piston-powered, two-seat R22 and the four-seat, piston-powered R44, first released in 1993. Robinson Helicopter Company also offers versions of its five-seat, turbine-powered R66, which debuted in 2010.

Robinson Helicopter Company cites the R44 and R66 as its top-selling models. The company reported 1 million flight hours for its R66 Turbine fleet in autumn 2019, and it delivered R66 serial number 1000 in summer 2020. Using a Rolls-Royce RR300 turboshaft engine, the R66 includes a 300-pound (136-kilogram) capacity baggage compartment. The company’s latest model at this writing is the two-seat R44 Cadet.
