Description
1978 Cessna 421C Golden Eagle — Garmin G600, GFC 600 Autopilot, GWX 75 Radar, RAM Right Engine 231 SMOH — $549,000
Most 421Cs for sale have the same story: mid-time engines, a legacy autopilot, and a 530/430 stack that was modern in 2005. N21SS is not that airplane. The panel was rebuilt around a Garmin G600 primary flight display, a Garmin GFC 600 digital autopilot installed in January 2024, and a Garmin GWX 75 color weather radar — also installed January 2024. This is the avionics package that makes single-pilot IFR in a pressurized twin genuinely manageable: a glass primary display, a modern digital autopilot with envelope protection, and onboard radar that does not require a second pilot to interpret. The GTX345R handles ADS-B In and Out. An L3 ESI-500 electric standby covers the panel if the G600 ever needs attention. A JPI EDM760-6C monitors all six cylinders on both engines simultaneously.
The mechanical story is equally strong. The right engine — Continental GTSIO-520-L, S/N 246026R — was overhauled by RAM Aircraft in Waco, Texas to New Parts Limits in May 2020, with a new CMI heavy-style crankcase, new CMI nickel cylinders, new RAM camshaft, and new lifters. It has approximately 231 hours since that overhaul. The left engine, S/N 239244-4, shows approximately 1,098 hours since major overhaul, with recent top-end work including an overhauled #3 cylinder completed in March 2024 using new Continental parts. Both Hartzell HC-C3YN-2UF three-blade propellers were installed new in February 2004 and have approximately 1,553 hours since new — well inside Hartzell's 2,400-hour TBO.
The maintenance posture is what serious 421C buyers want to see before they pick up the phone. The most recent annual inspection was completed August 7, 2025 by Midwest Corporate Air in Bellefontaine, Ohio (Tim Kerns, A&P/IA). New Goodyear tires were installed on all three positions, a new Concorde RG24-20 main battery was installed, and new RAM exhaust risers with all-new gaskets and hardware were fitted to the left engine. IFR certification was completed March 21, 2026 by Achievement Aviation of Ohio, confirming the G600, GTX345R, and L3 ESI-500 to 35,000 feet. The landing gear system underwent a complete overhaul in November 2022. The A/C compressor was overhauled in May 2024. The left hydraulic pump was overhauled in December 2025. Whelen Orion 650 LED position and strobe lights were installed in September 2025. The oxygen system is current with hydrostatic testing due March 2029.
Complete and continuous logbooks are included — airframe, both engines, and both propellers — with no known major damage history. The cabin is configured in an executive club arrangement with a center table. Air conditioning, oxygen, and Shadin fuel flow are all installed and operational. This is a pressurized, IFR-equipped, glass-panel 421C with a fresh right engine and a modern autopilot. Serious inquiries only. Logbooks and maintenance records available for review prior to inspection.Specifications
