Engine, Propeller and the $77,316 Engine Reserve The Continental IO-550-N (310 HP) with GAMI injectors has 2,742 hours since new and continues to run strong. Blackstone oil analysis is done at every oil change, and the reports are available on request. Only one cylinder has been replaced in the engine’s entire life. The engine is past its published TBO. The partnership planned for this: $77,316 is already set aside in the engine reserve, so when the time comes, a new or overhauled engine is largely paid for. That reserve stays with the partnership, so a new partner buys into an airplane whose largest upcoming expense is already funded. The three-blade Hartzell propeller was recently overhauled and dynamically balanced. It has just 20 hours since major overhaul, so there is no near-term propeller expense.

Avionics: Aspen Three-Screen Glass and Dual Avidyne WAAS Navigators The panel was overhauled in 2017 by NexAir Avionics near Boston, MA, a shop known for its Cirrus avionics work. The owners flew the airplane from San Antonio to Boston specifically for that quality. The Aspen Evolution 2500 three-screen panel gives this 2002 SR22 full glass: a primary flight display with two multifunction displays. The right-hand display works as a full backup PFD with its own backup battery, so the airplane needs no steam-gauge backup instruments. The attitude indicator visible in the photos is a backup to the backup. The Avidyne IFD 540 and IFD 440 WAAS GPS/NAV/COMs provide LPV approach capability, +V advisory glidepath on RNAV approaches, and hybrid touchscreen/knob controls that stay easy to use in turbulence. The AXP 322 remote-mounted transponder provides ADS-B Out. The Skytrax 100 active traffic system and the STEC 55X two-axis autopilot with GPS steering round out a strong single-pilot IFR platform.
