Toowoomba Regional Roadshow To Start 31 March 2022

Do we dare to dream?!! After a Covid forced break, it is time to crack on again with our hugely popular roadshow events. With the borders of QLD now open to the rest of Australia we have decided to hold our next event in the beautiful town of Toowoomba! I am still pulling things together but here is plan A!!

We are taking on a Future of Regional Aviation theme in this one and are fortunate to have speakers lined up to talk about Urban Air Mobility Vehicles, how they will affect regional travel and also hear from Embraer on their Eve project. Sydney Seaplanes, a valued RAAA member have already landed an order for these aircraft, the first of many I believe (see article here)!! So where are they going to land and take-off? Clem Newton-Brown from Skyportz will provide details on what we can expect in the future. Airservices Australia will also provide some insights into the future of airspace which will have to manage this integration, through their Flight Information Management System or FIMS.

Talking of the future of air travel won’t be complete unless we better understand what is going to fuel our aircraft, especially as we head towards Net Zero emissions by 2050! So we will also be hearing from fuel suppliers on Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAFs) and where and how are we going to get the supply from. Incredible advances are already happening so we may see these fuels more common place sooner than we think!!

We’ve all heard about the amazing feat of Wellcamp Airport and how it was built in such a short time and the amazing foresight of the Wagner family. On Day 2, we will hear hopefully from John Wagner and his senior team on the story of this greenfield airport, a truly amazing feat considering how long the government will take to build Western Sydney Airport!! We do have a bus arranged (at no extra cost) for transport between town and the airport, leaving at 08:45 from the Burke and Wills, leaving the airport to return to town at 1pm.

4 months into the new flight operations regulations, it is a great time to hear from CASA on some of the issues thus far and how they are managing the implementation, we will be holding a workshop after the airport presentation to hash out some of the more pressing issues industry are facing.

Tickets are now on sale! Click here to find accommodation and transportation options, and to register.
