Purchase Agreement Will Give Platoon Aviation Europe’s Largest Cessna Citation Longitude Fleet
Textron Aviation has announced it will sell multiple Cessna Citation Longitude business jets to Platoon Aviation, an on-demand private jet charter operator headquartered in Hamburg, Germany. The aerospace company says the purchase agreement will give Platoon Aviation Europe’s largest fleet of Citation Longitudes. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2027.
Quiet, Comfortable & Well-Suited For European Charter
Platoon Aviation’s fleet also includes Pilatus PC-24 light business jets. With the Citation Longitude, however, the charter operator is acquiring a super-midsize business jet well-suited for European charter operations. The flagship of the Citation family has a four-passenger transcontinental range of 6,482 kilometres (3,500 nautical miles), supporting charter routes such as Hamburg to Madrid and London to Athens.
Textron Aviation says the Citation Longitude also features the segment’s quietest cabin and class-leading legroom of 76 centimetres (30 inches)—at least 11% more spacious than competing aircraft. The quiet cabin experience is due in part to the company’s exclusive soundproofing techniques.
The jet’s 1.83-metre-high (6-foot) flat-floor stand-up cabin can seat up to 12 passengers in fully berthable seats. Buyers can choose cabin configurations featuring an aft couch or a side-facing seat.
Meeting Modern Travellers’ Expectations
Lannie O’Bannion, Textron Aviation senior vice president of sales and marketing, says the Longitude’s performance and cabin experience, combined with Textron Aviation’s global support network, instill confidence in charter operators to expand their fleets. Platoon Aviation CEO Deniz Weißenborn says the agreement signals his company’s broader aviation platform ambitions.
“The Citation Longitude fleet expansion reflects our commitment to building a future-proof, next-generation aviation platform that combines operational efficiency, sustainability, and uncompromising comfort,” says Weißenborn. “The aircraft position us to meet the evolving expectations of modern travellers while giving our clients greater flexibility, reliability, and connectivity across Europe and beyond.”
Citation Longitude Cost Savings
The Citation Longitude has a maximum cruise speed of 895 kilometres per hour (483 ktas) and a low cabin altitude of 1,509 m (4,950 ft) at 12,500 m (41,000 ft). The jet is powered by two Honeywell HTF7700L turbofan engines, each delivering 34.1 kilonewtons (7,665 pounds) of thrust. Textron Aviation says the engines contribute to direct operating costs of $2,455 per hour, among the lowest in the super-midsize segment.
The jet’s maintenance intervals of 800 hours or 18 months also top its class and result in up to 60% less scheduled maintenance than competing aircraft, says the company. Over five years of ownership, operators can achieve up to 6% in operating cost savings, the company says.
