Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer recently announced that its Eve Urban Air Mobility spinoff company has partnered with Microflite to make zero-emissions, electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft operations available in Australia beginning by 2026. The independently operated Eve is focused on making a global Urban Air Mobility (UAM) ecosystem a reality through a combination of eVTOL aircraft, global services, and a support network. Microflite operates the largest turbine helicopter fleet in Victoria, consisting of 19 Airbus and Bell helicopters, and provides premium tours, charter flights, airwork applications, pilot training, and other aircraft services.

    An Injection Of Innovation

Embraer says Eve and Microflite’s partnership will begin by using helicopters where appropriate to validate their concept for future eVTOL aircraft operations. The firms are focused on developing new services and procedures that will contribute to a safe, scalable operating environment for eVTOL aircraft (aka “electrical vertical aircraft,” or “EVA”) by working with communities and industry stakeholders, Embraer says.

“Our partnership with Microflite allows Eve to inject innovation and new mobility solutions within the Australian market,” says Eve Urban Air Mobility President and CEO Andre Stein. “We can deliver a comprehensive solution, including maintenance services and air traffic management, getting ready to introduce our aircraft to Australia, while benefiting from Microflite’s extensive local operational experience.”

Eve and Microflite have worked together in the past; Microflite contributed to a Concept of Operations jointly developed by Eve and Airservices Australia. That work established a foundation to explore new and practical concepts for safely introducing air taxi usage in Melbourne.

    Air Taxis In Asia

Eve is also partnering with Ascent Flights Global, and in late August announced that beginning in 2026, it will provide Ascent with up to 100,000 hours of eVTOL flight time annually in Bangkok, Manila, Melbourne, Singapore, and Tokyo. Eve will deploy as many as 100 aircraft that Ascent will use in serving current and future routes. Ascent operates as an independent on-demand platform, and will pay for flight time on Eve aircraft while operating in combination with partners in Asia Pacific and other markets, Embraer says.
