CESSNA’S NEW CITATION MUSTANG ARRIVES IN AUSTRALIATWELVE MONTHS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE
The Executive Chairman of the Aeromil Group of Companies, Steve Padgett, today announced that Aeromil Pacific has been fortunate to acquire one of the first new Cessna Citation Mustangs to be delivered outside the United States, and will be used as an Australian demonstrator. The aircraft is expected to arrive in Australia at the end of August. Aeromil Pacific is the exclusive distributor for Cessna Citations in Australia, New Zealand and near Pacific Islands.
The Mustang, recently FAA certified, is the first Very Light Jet (VLJ) category aircraft to be certified and reach Australia. The Mustang however is more like a “mini” Citation than a VLJ, having so much advanced technology fitted and being so close in design and appearance to other aircraft in the Citation range of business jets.
Designed, engineered and priced to make jet aircraft ownership very real for a new generation of aviators, the Mustang features a Garmin G1000™ glass flight deck, cabin class seating and a range of 1,150 nautical miles. It flies more than two miles higher and at 340 knots, faster than competing turbo props. The Mustang is so simple to fly; it is certified for single pilot operation.
Priced at approximately US$2.5 million for a delivery in 2007, the aircraft represents exceptional value for money, making it accessible to a whole new group of buyers.
The Garmin G1000™ glass flight deck is also installed in the Cessna single engine aircraft, making it possible for owners or pilots of these aircraft to transition easily to the highly advanced and newly designed Citation Mustang. Aeromil intends to set up a specialist training centre at the Sunshine Coast Airport to train pilots on the new Garmin G1000™ -equipped Cessna C172s and C182s, as well as the Mustang.
In making the announcement today, Mr Padgett, said:
“Whilst there was a severe backlog of orders for the Mustang, Cessna have worked with us to secure a very early delivery to ensure the Australian market has the opportunity to see this fantastic aircraft in Australia as early as possible.
We are expecting that there will be a tremendous positive reaction from individuals and companies to the very low costs associated with operating the aircraft and the enormous flexibility its performance characteristics will offer ” Mr Padgett said.
Aeromil Pacific has already sold its allocation of delivery positions in 2007 and 2008 but has aircraft available for delivery in 2009. Because of the unprecedented demand for Mustangs and its obvious appeal to potential Australian buyers, Aeromil Pacific is currently negotiating with Cessna to secure additional aircraft with the possibility of acquiring earlier delivery positions.
Very low operating costs are a specific feature of this new and latest Citation as is the low approach and landing speeds, permitting access to smaller airports. For example, Cessna quote a cost per nautical mile (for a typical 500 nm trip) of US$2.06 which includes fuel, maintenance, labour and all reserves.
The interior is beautiful, designed with seating for four to five passengers plus a more than adequate galley with a side-facing toilet. Access and crew seating is extraordinarily generous and more indicative of a much larger cabin aircraft.
The launch of Aeromil Pacific’s Cessna Citation Mustang will include a nationwide tour and customer functions.
