1952 Hawker Seafury

Three Warbird & Vintage aircraft seized by the Australian Federal Police in 2006 are finally being sold at auction on behalf of The Commonwealth Government of Australia under the direction of the Australian Financial Security Authority.

Mr Peter Brand of National Auctioneers the selling agent has had strong local and overseas interest in all of them especially the 1952 Hawker Seafury. The planes are being sold by online auction starting on 27 September and ending 18 October 2018. On offer are 2 North American T28B & T-28D Trojan’s and the one everybody has been waiting 10 years for is the 1952 Hawker Sea Fury in original configuration with Bristol Centaraus 18 Cylinder Radial Engine. Sea Fury’s have become an extremely collectable aircraft of recent time and this one is no exception with a TTIS of only 365 hours.

Aircraft enthusiasts have noted that the Sea Fury would be one of if not the lowest houred aircraft of its type left in the World. With strong Overseas demand for these planes many observers are hoping it will be bought by a local identity. Last year’s Warbird auction sale saw all 5 planes sell with the main attraction being the Yak-3 purchased by South African interests. The planes are currently hangared at Archerfield Airport in Queensland and are available for inspection on October 1, 8th & 15th. Buyers have 3 weeks to get their bids in on buying a piece of aviation history and all prospective purchasers are encouraged to contact Peter on 0417 908 907 should they wish to discuss any of the terms and conditions of the auction sale.
