AirVenture Australia 2018 will land on 20 September 2018 and run through until 22 September 2018, organisers having chosen the beautiful Hunter Valley for the spectacular three day event.
David Young from AirVenture Australia said: “The team is very much excited about this year’s event. We have a new venue and new look event that is designed to please everyone, from the keen aviator to the person in the street. We are ecstatic that Cessnock City Council and the local community have got behind this year’s event. It’s onward and upward from here as we grow AirVenture Australia with the beautiful Hunter Valley as our backdrop.”
This year’s event will feature two trade days, designed for members of Recreational Aviation Australia and other aviation bodies, such as the Australian Parachute Federation, war birds, sports and amateur built aircraft. In addition to static displays of aircraft, everything associated with maintaining, designing, building, flying, training and teaching will be on display.
Over 50 seminars are planned on the Thursday and Friday. The event will culminate in a fantastic airshow on Saturday afternoon where people can sit back and enjoy some great aerial displays. CEO of Recreational Aviation Australia, Michael Linke said: “RAAus is absolutely committed to AirVenture Australia. “This event is exactly what our members are after”, he says. “Two great days where they can catch up with each other, look at planes, attend some seminars and build on their knowledge. Then on the Saturday we can all sit back and enjoy some great aerial displays. AirVenture is the best of both worlds. It’s an event for aviators by aviators.”
Cessnock City Council welcomed the announcement that AirVenture, Australia’s premier airshow, will be hosted at Cessnock Aerodrome. “The three day event aims to provide a single place where anyone with an interest in aviation can gather to share their passion” says Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent. “Cessnock City Council is supporting the event which is expected to attract up to 10,000 people and provide a huge boost to local business. We’ve never hosted anything like this before. It will not only attract more visitors to our region, but also be a great event for local residents to experience. It’s wonderful to attract another fantastic event to our region and no doubt it will provide a healthy injection into our local economy.”
